James Andrew Mcgee

Mr. McGee, son of the late Horace Holden and Mabel Maise McGee was born in Monroe, Louisiana on September 2, 1930. During his childhood, his family lived all over the USA. His father, along with his grandfather, uncles and cousins were all pipeline workers and followed the construction wherever it carried them. He graduated from Chamblee High School and signed up for the Marine Reserves, but he was too young to serve. He married the former Rachel Virginia Treadwell, the mother of his children, Jimmy McGee and Debbie McLeod. Shortly thereafter, he followed his father and other family members and worked the pipeline throughout America and Alberta, Canada. Then, he started JA McGee Construction in Atlanta. During that time, he coached Pop Warner football and Little League baseball teams in Chamblee.

After retirement, his love for agriculture brought him back to Lincoln and Wilkes counties where he owned and operated a dairy farm and raised horses. He also worked in real estate with his wife Nellie Goldman McGee for many years, was a member of the North Georgia Roping Club, and Jones Chapel Church.

He is survived by his son, Jimmy McGee, daughter, Debbie McLeod and husband Greg grandsons, Matt McGee, Morgan McLeod and wife Adrienne, Wesley McGee, Tyler McGee and wife Brooke, granddaughters, Julie McGee, Corey McLeod Bridges and husband Steven and six great grandchildren.
