Mr. Marlow, son of the late Jasper S. and Emma Lindsey Marlow was born on Oct. 26, 1933in Wilkes County. His father died shortly afterwards and when he was eight years old, Mr. Marlow's mother died. His Uncle and Aunt, Carl and Nell Hopkins raised him in Lincolnton.
He grew up in Lincolnton, served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict, and on September 9, 1956, he and the former LaVina Glaze were married. Over the years, Mr. Marlow had served in numerous civic roles which include: Mayor of the City of Lincolnton from 1982-1991, Lincolnton City Councilman, member of the Lincolnton Fire Dept., Lincoln County Civil Defense, past President of the Lincolnton Jaycees, former Cub and Scout Master of Boy Scout Troup #23, Mayor of the City of Lincolnton from 1982-1991, CSRA RDC Board of Directors from 1982-2003, and more recently President of the Lincoln County Historical Society. He was a member of American Legion #194, and the Lincolnton Baptist Church, where he had served as Deacon and Sunday School teacher. Mr. Marlow had retired from the City of Lincolnton Water Dept.
