James Charles "J.C." Newsome

James Charles "J.C." Newsome, 90, Thomson, Georgia, entered into eternal rest on February 5, 2025.

He was born in Thomson, Georgia on March 28, 1934, grew up in McDuffie and Warren Counties until graduation when J.C. joined the Navy.  J.C. retired form serving his Country in the Navy where he served in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars.  During his 24 years in the Navy, he served as a Combat Military Vet and a Corpman. Once he retired from the Navy, he worked as a pharmacy tech in the VA Hospital in San Diego, California before returning to Thomson, Georgia in 1981 and working for Arrington Industries for 20 years, was an active member of the Sons of the American Revolution for over 30 years and was a member of First Baptist Church of Thomson.  J.C. enjoyed watching horse racing, watching golf, doing genealogy, was an avid Thomson Bulldog Fan and the Thomson Marching Band and loved spending time with his family and friends, especially spending time with his grandchildren and going to all their sporting events.

J.C. was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Wilson Newsome; his parents, Charles A. Newsome and Mary Ashley Newsome.  His survivors include his daughters, Cheryl Newsome, Cynthia Nelson and Karen Stewart; his brother, Douglas "Buddy" Newsome (Lydia); his sisters, Sara Crawley and Louise Lazenby; his grandchildren, Jamie Stewart, Chris Stewart (Lauren) and Brandon Cason and eight great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Beggs Funeral Home, 799 Cobbham Road, Thomson, Georgia.  His Graveside Service, being officiated by Rev.
