James Everett Barnett

Lincolnton, Georgia- Mr. James Everett Barnett, 65, entered into rest September 20, 2017.

Coach Jimmy Barnett was born in Washington, Georgia, the son of the late Joe Barnett, Sr. and the late Mildred Daracott Barnett. After graduation from Washington-Wilkes Comprehensive High School in 1970, he was awarded a football scholarship to Presbyterian College where he earned a B.S. degree in History in 1974. Coach Jimmy dedicated his life to the education of children and coaching having worked at schools in Duluth, GA, Jacksonville, N.C., and regionally at Wilkes Academy, Briarwood Academy, Nathaniel Greene, and David Emanuel. He was a Baptist by faith.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Betsy Dunford Barnett; sons, Jamie Barnett of Thomson, GA and Brad Barnett of Beaufort, SC; daughter, Maegen Ware (Blake) of Thomson, GA; brothers, Danny Barnett and Joe Barnett, Jr. of Washington, GA; and 4 grandchildren, Cassidy Barnett, Addison Ware, Charlotte Ware, and Jaxson Ware.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, September 24, 2017 in the chapel of Beggs Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Briarwood Academy.
