JAMES HENRY "SARGE" APPLING
U.S. ARMY RETIREE
MR. JAMES HENRY "SARGE" APPLING, 77 of Lincolnton Hwy. Thomson, Ga. entered into rest August 18, 2009 at his residence. He was the beloved husband of Robbie Appling and the late Sara Appling.
Memorial services will be held 11:00 A.M., Thursday, August 20, 2009 at the Beggs Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Boyd Reeves officiating.
Mr. Appling was born in Oglethorpe County, Ga. and was the son of the late Otis Henry Appling and the late Margaret Anna Andrews Appling. He served in the U. S. Army during Korea and Vietnam and retired after 20 years of service. Mr. Appling was also retired from Hoover Wood Products as a Maintenance Supervisor and was a Volunteer Firefighter with the Raysville Fire Department. He was also a Mormon by faith.
Survivors include:
Wife, Robbie Akin Appling, Thomson, Ga.; Daughters, Terry Hagan and her husband Darrel, Dearing, Ga., Rhonda Jackson, Colorado; Brother; Joel Appling, Jacksonville, Fl.;
Sister, Nell Bryant, Elijay, Ga.; Grandchildren, Lindsay Hagan, Elizabeth Hagan, Katlyn Hagan, Kelly Appling, 7 great-grandchildren and numerous cousins. Mr. Appling was preceded in death by two of his grandchildren Rosalyn Jackson and Amanda A. Piercy.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 pm today at the funeral home.
