James "Jimmy" Alton Johnson Warrenton, GA. - Mr. James Alton "Jimmy" Johnson, 91, entered into eternal rest April 11, 2012 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 o'clock p.m., Saturday, April 14, 2012 at the Beggs Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lynda Allen officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his grandsons. Mr. Johnson was born, December 17, 1920 to the late James A. "Jim Pat" Johnson and the late Ida Mae Johnson in McDuffie County. Mr. Johnson was a retired school bus driver for Warren County Board of Education. He was also the retired owner and operator of the "Jim Pat" Plantation. Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Mrs. Willie Merritt Johnson; two sons, Aaron Johnson and wife, Rita, Alton Johnson and wife, Jo; one daughter, Laura Mae Price and husband, Harold all of Warrenton; eight grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Melrose J. Signorelli of Mobile, AL. Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, one sister and a daughter, Patsy J. Pearson. He was a faithful member of Mesena United Methodist Church. Mr. Johnson was fun loving, witty and loved to make people laugh. The family wishes to express their appreciation to caregiver, Marilyn Morris and Odyssey Hospice staff especially, Brenda and Betty. Friends may call at the residence of Aaron and Rita Johnson or at Beggs Funeral Home on Friday, April 13, 2012, from 7 until 9 pm. Beggs Funeral Home, Thomson, Georgia is in charge of arrangements.
