Mr. Johnnie Ray Banks, 87 of Bethany Church Rd., Lincolnton entered into rest on June 27, 2020.
Mr. Banks, son of the late Johnnie Otis and Allene Tullis Banks, was born in Lincoln County on July 16, 1932. He served in the US Army 44th Engineering Battalion, 10th Corp., 8th Army during the Korean War. During his lifetime, Mr. Ray had been a logger, over the road truck driver and retired as a utilities contractor for SCE&G after 20 years of service. He was a lifetime member of Bethany United Methodist Church and American Legion #194. In his spare time, he enjoyed making knives and made several beautiful pieces of furniture. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen Louise Watt Banks; and daughter, Bonnie Sue "Suzy" Banks Warren Ellis.
He is survived by his daughters, Roselyn Riley of Pahoa, Hawaii, Linnie Banks Wright Swint of Thomson, GA; son, John Paul Banks of Evans, GA; daughter-in-law, Teresa Parker Banks of Evans, GA; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
