Iris Shurley Stanley Retired Garland/Health Tex Appling, Ga. -Mrs. Iris Shurley Cartledge Stanley, 88 entered into rest November 13, 2009. She was the beloved wife of the late Walter Stanley and the late Merrell Cartledge. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM , Friday, November 20, 2009 at the Beggs Funeral Home Chapel with Revs. Ron Hankal and Rick Slagle officiating. Interment will follow in the Mill Creek Baptist Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Ethan Cartledge, Matthew Cartledge, Gabriel Hogan, Stacy Hogan, Josh Gibson and Charles Gibson. Mrs. Stanley was a native of Warren County but made her home in Columbia County for the past 25 years. She was the daughter of the late Coyle Shurley and the late Ora Mae Shurley. Mrs. Stanley was retired as a supervisor from Garland/ Health Tex Corp. . She was also a member of Mill Creek Baptist Church where she was active in WMU and served as the church pianist for many years. Survivors include her son, Jimmy Cartledge and wife Gina of Appling; daughters, Polly Black and husband Carlton of Martinez, Joanne Parrish and husband Billy of Evans; nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; additional survivors include, Walter and Marsha Stanley,III, Billie and Jorge Jimenez and Jackie Blankenship. Memorials may be made to Mill Creek Baptist Church 6252 Mill Creek Church Rd., Mitchell, GA 30820 or Trinity Baptist Church 4594 Columbia Rd. Martinez, GA 30907.
