Biography

Mrs. Irene Carney Schmeelk, 88, entered into rest on Dec. 13, 2009 at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 11AM on Sat., Dec. 19 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness in Washington, Ga. Mrs. Schmeelk, daughter of the late John and Millie Ward Carney, was a native of Lebanon, Ct. A resident of Thompson, Ct. for over 20 years, she had retired from American Optical. Later, she moved to Zephyrhills, Fl. and to Lincoln County 26 years ago. She was a member of Kingdom Hall, Washington, Ga. Her husband, John Schmeelk, and sisters, Ruth Pray, Ella Laidlay, and Hattie Greene, preceded her in death. Survivors include Son: Daniel J. Schmeelk, and wife, Linda, Thompson, Ct. Daughter: Geraldine Birdsey, Lincolnton, Ga. Brother: William Carney, and wife, Janice, Lebanon, Ct. Sister: Edith Ferrigno, Windham, Ct. 5 grandchildren 7 Great- grandchildren
