INEZ LEMKE REID Thomson, GA - Mrs. Inez Lemke Reid, entered into the gates of heaven on March 20, 2009 after a courageous battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband, Roger L. Reid. She is also survived by her children: Peggy L. Stokes (Dan Van Ackeren) of Spring Hill, FL; Dr. Jimmy Lemke (Gayle) of Augusta, Ga; and Lynn L. Griffin of Boca Raton, FL. She is survived by 3 grandchildren: Cris M. Griffin (Leslie) of Calhoun, Ga.; Scarlett Giles (Peter) of Woodstock, Ga.; and Ashley Lemke of Augusta and three great-grand children: Colin and Kendall Giles and Stevie Griffin. Other survivors include a stepson, Fernley D. Lemke, of Blanchard, OK.; sisters - Elsie Warren of Vero Beach, FL; Rhoda Brown of Thomson; Wally Irwin (Dick) of Leesburg, FL; and Betty Graves (Ralph) of St Pete Beach, FL and brothers William Reese (Jan) of Kent, WA; C. L. Reese of Grovetown, Ga.; and Billy Reese (Jennifer) of Vero Beach, FL. She is predeceased by her first husband D. B. (Doc) Lemke, her parents William and Celia Reese and sister, Lee Ward. Mrs. Reid was born in Glascock County but resided most of her life in Thomson. She was employed with the McDuffie County Hospital for 37 years, serving as Hospital Administrator for many years. Prior to declining health, she enjoyed cake decorating, floral design, square dancing and travel. She was a member of the First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School. She will surely be missed by all whose lives she touched. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, March 23, 2009 at First Baptist Church in Thomson with Dr. James Ramsey officiating. Burial will follow at West View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the McDuffie Relay for Life or First Baptist Church Sanctuary Renovation Fund P. O. 1205 Thomson, GA 30824.
