Ida Bell Remsen

Ida Bell Remsen Lincolnton, GA-Mrs. Ida Bell Remsen, 83, went to her eternal home on June 15, 2015.

Mrs. Remsen was born in McDuffie County, GA to the late John Phillips and the late Essie Tudor Phillips. She worked with Garland Knitting Mills and retired as a Quality Control Inspector. She lived in Norwood, GA many years and was married to the late Alton W. Johnson. She was active in the Norwood United Methodist Church where she served as the Youth Director. Mrs. Remsen later married the late Guy Remsen and moved to Lincolnton where she became a member of Goshen Baptist Church and taught sunday school. She was also preceded in death by a son, Richard Rodney Johnson.

Survivors include her sons, Thad W. Johnson (Meia) of Martinez, GA, Alan B. Johnson (Robin) of Norwood, GA; daughter, Phyllis J. Johnson of Washington, GA; brothers, Jack Phillips of Wrens, GA, John "Dee" Phillips of Port Arthur, Texas, Gene Phillips of Columbus, GA; sisters, Dovie Reed of Lincolnton, GA, Doris Harwell of Virginia Beach, VA; grandchildren, Jennifer M. Parks, Megan Johnson, Phillip Johnson and great grandchild, Dennis Parks, III.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 17, 2015 in the chapel of Beggs Funeral Home, Thomson with Rev. Robert Adams officiating. Interment will follow in the Scruggs Cemetery, Norwood.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Harper Personal Care Home, the staff of Lake Crossing Health Care and special appreciation to Marie Hawes for the excellent care given to Mrs. Remsen during illness. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.
