Mr. Howard E. McCorkle

Dearing, Georgia - Mr. Howard Eugene McCorkle, 92, entered into rest April 2, 2016 at his residence, the home in which he was born, raised, lived his entire life.

Mr. McCorkle, son of the late Charles and Beatrice Arrington McCorkle, was a lifelong resident of McDuffie County.  He retired from civil service having served as an EMT at Ft. Gordon, had owned and operated McDuffie Nurseries and landscaped yards throughout the CSRA.

Still active until his mid 80's and one who never met a stranger, Mr. McCorkle,  was a great storyteller, enjoyed gospel sings, mountain trips, fish fries and visiting his friends in the nursing homes. Also, he was a member of Dearing  Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, Mr. McCorkle was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Buena Usry McCorkle.

Survivors include his daughters, Jan M Jackson of Martinez, GA, Carol M Sylvester, Murrells Inlet, SC, Dianne M Gordon, Grovetown, GA; sister, Eulin M Hamilton of Dearing, GA; 6 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and a special friend, Patricia Forbes.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Ruth Robins, Holly Benson, Bethany Benson, Elsie Downs and Alliance Hospice.

Funeral services will be held at 11 o'clock, a.m., Monday, April 4, 2016 at Beggs Funeral Home Chapel with Jack McCorkle officiating. Interment will follow in Dearing Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home.
