Howard Lamar Johnson
Thomson, Georgia - Mr. Howard Lamar Johnson, 87, of Brentwood Drive entered into rest, November 20, 2012.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 23, 2012 from Second Baptist Church, Thomson, Georgia with Rev. Steve Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Mill Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Mitchell, Georgia. Pallbearers will be: Doug Johnson, Gary Johnson, Pat Johnson, Mike Johnson, Jerry Snyder and David Hunter.
Mr. Johnson was born in Warren County and was the son of the late Mashburn Johnson and the late Josie Dye Johnson. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Philippines. Mr. Johnson retired as a surveyor with the Georgia Department of Transportation after 33 years of service. He was a member of Second Baptist Church, Thomson.
Survivors include his wife, Betty H. Johnson; sons, Carl Johnson and wife, Jennifer of Thomson, David Moseley and wife, Mary Ann of Mitchell; daughter, Laurie Jones and husband, Steve of Saluda, SC; brothers, Bobby W. Johnson of Camak, Margia "Smokey" Johnson of Norwood; sister, Jo Ann Hardebeck of Gibson; grandchildren, Elizabeth Johnson, Anna Johnson, Lauren Jones and Phillip Jones.
Memorials may be made to Mill Creek Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Willis Johnson, 4366 Five Points -Jewell Road, Mitchell, Georgia 30820.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m., Friday at Second Baptist Church prior to the service.
