Norwood, GA-Mr. Horace Edward Mayo, 84, of Old Greensboro Rd. entered into rest August 19, 2014 at Select Specialty Hospital, Augusta.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m., Thursday, August 21, 2014 in the chapel of Beggs Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Dunaway and Rev. Bryant Neal officiating. Interment will follow in Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Mayo was a lifelong resident of Warren County, GA and was the son of the late Arthur Clyde Mayo and the late Hazel Brewer Mayo. He served in the U. S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Mayo was a retired Supervisor from Civil Service at Ft. Gordon. He was a member of New Providence Baptist Church where he also served as Deacon.
Survivors include his wife, Nena Edwards Mayo; sons, Michael Edward "Mike" Mayo of San Francisco,CA; Brian W. Mayo and wife, Lynn of Norwood, GA; brother, Bobby Mayo of Martinez, GA; sister, Shirley Moore of Norwood, GA; grandchildren, Kiley Chance and Brandon Chance and 2 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Mayo was preceded in death by brothers, Eugene Mayo and Walter Mayo.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 9 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.
Beggs Funeral Home, 799 Cobbham Rd., Thomson, Georgia is in charge of arrangements.
