Thomson, Georgia- Mrs. Helen Potter Hill, 93, entered into rest December 21, 2017.

Mrs. Hill was born in Princess Bay, New York to the late Charles Dimon Potter and the late Agnese Grieve Potter.  She lived in Charlotte, NC in earlier years before moving to Thomson in 1967.  Mrs. Hill taught third grade at Pine Street Elementary, taught at the Shedd Reading Foundation in Evans, GA, and later taught adult education through the Thomson-McDuffie County Library.  She volunteered with the Thomson-McDuffie Hospital Auxiliary and was a member of the Gideons Auxiliary and the Thomson Presbyterian Church.  Mrs. Hill was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles U. Hill, Jr. and daughter, Grace Potter Hill.

Survivors include her son, Charles U. "Jeff" Hill, III (Laura) of West End, NC; daughter, Jean "Jeanie" Hill Smith (Randy) of Lincolnton, GA; and grandchildren, Hunter Smith, Charlie Hill, Rebecca Hill, and Jackson Hill.

Graveside services will be held at 11 o'clock a.m., Saturday, December 23, 2017 in Westview Cemetery with the Rev. John Belangia officiating.

The family will receive friends from 9:45 until 10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Thomson Presbyterian Church or the Gideons International Thomson Camp, P O Box 173, Thomson, GA 30824.

The family would like to express their appreciation for the special care provided by Stephanie Gray and the staff at the Cooper House.
