Mrs. Hazel Arnett Kirkland, 87, of Highway 220 West, died Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at Wills Memorial Hospital, Washington. She was a native of Lincoln County and the daughter of the late John Henry and Maude Greene Arnett. A retired textile worker, Mrs. Kirkland was an active member of Loco Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for a number of years. She is survived by her daughter: Sylvia W. Chafin; her three sons: Joe W. Willis and wife Brenda, Perry Kirkland and wife Marcia, and Ted Kirkland and wife Denise all of Lincolnton, daughter-in-law: Glenna Willis along with 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Mrs Kirkland was preceded in death by her husbands: Aaron D. Willis, Sr. and James T. Kirkland, her son: Aaron D. Willis, Jr., and three brothers: John T. Arnett, Roy Arnett, and Marlin Arnett. Funeral services will be conducted from Loco Baptist Church on Thursday, September 15, 2011 at 4:00pm with Rev. Ficklen Guin officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will include Kevin Willis, Byron Willis, Matthew Kirkland, Keith Cunningham, Rick Chafin, and Mike Jones.
