Harry Eugene Brantley, III

Harry Eugene Brantley, III passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at his home in Washington, Georgia, on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at the age of 65. Born on May 29, 1961, in Fulton County, Georgia, he was the son of the late Harry Eugene Brantley, Jr. and Bennie Pierce Brantley.

Harry attended Midvale Elementary School in Tucker and graduated from Henderson High School. He later received his certification in HVAC from DeKalb Technical College and went on to earn his Georgia HVAC license. He began his career in the early 1990s with Shumate Mechanical and Knight HVAC before joining the Rockdale County School System as an HVAC technician. Through hard work, skill, and dedication, he rose through the ranks and retired in November of 2017 as Director of Buildings and Grounds after 30 years of service.

Following retirement, Harry and his wife, Tammy, continued the life they had built together in Conyers before purchasing a farm in Washington so they could be closer to family. Retirement gave him the opportunity to enjoy the land he loved, and he took great pride in maintaining the fields and tending his garden. He found peace and satisfaction in working outdoors, and he approached every task with the same care and determination that had defined his career. Harry was a larger-than-life presence and the rock of his family. He leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, faith, and devotion that will be deeply missed and never replaced.

He loved Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior, and he loved his family deeply. Harry was the kind of father who would do anything for his children, and the joy he found in watching them grow and build lives of their own was one of the great blessings of his life.

Harry was an avid deer and turkey hunter and loved fishing, especially in the pond right in his backyard. He also enjoyed grilling and smoking food for family gatherings after retirement, and he took great pleasure in bringing people together around good food and good company. One of his happiest places was Panama City Beach, Florida, which he affectionately called the Redneck Riviera. He and his family vacationed there every year for two weeks for many years, and he never seemed to get enough of the beach.

He was a faithful member of Rehoboth Baptist Church in Washington and loved his church family dearly. He especially enjoyed bringing his tractor and trailer each fall for the hayride, and even after surgery he managed to ride the children this past October. Nothing would stop him when it came to serving others or making memories with the young people he cared about. Because he lived so close to the church, he also took care to cut the grass, considering it a labor of love. Above all, Harry wanted to know that all of his children were saved, and he found comfort in the hope that they would one day be with him in Heaven.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Tammy Daniel Brantley; his sons, Clinton Joshua Brantley and his wife, Laura, and Cody Tyler Brantley and his wife, Brittany; daughter, Cassidy Rose Claxton and husband Erich; his four grandchildren, Alayna Rose Brantley, Holly Grace Brantley, Evie Rose Claxton, and Luna Fae Brantley; his father-in-law, Henry Jefferson Daniel, II., his sister, Nina Grimes and her husband, Bob, nieces, Tiffany Grimes and Christina Holmes and her husband, Thomas, and his great nephew, T.R. Holmes. He was especially looking forward to welcoming his first grandson, Harry Eugene Brantley IV, in November of this year. 

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 11, 2026 at 2 p.m. at Rehoboth Baptist Church with the funeral service beginning at 3 p.m. Interment will follow at Fishing Creek Baptist Cemetery.
