Harold Schroeder

James Harold Schroeder, affectionately known as Harold, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 30, 2025, at his residence in the Amity Community of Lincoln County, Georgia, at the age of 73.

His memorial service is planned for Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 2:00 PM at St. Paul Church with a visitation following the service.

Born on October 23, 1951, in Washington, Georgia, he was the son of the late Curtis and Emogene Goldman Schroeder. Harold's childhood was spent among the close-knit group known as the Dallas Street boys in Lincolnton, where he forged lifelong friendships and memories. Harold was a graduate of Lincolnton High School, class of 1969, and later attended Brewton Parker College until returning home and taking a job with Coca Cola then AB Beverage. Then, he began his career in construction with J.P. Wells Home Builders. Shortly Afterwards, he joined the Carpenters Local 283 in Augusta, Georgia where he worked on projects at Savannah River Site (SRS) and Plant Vogtle. His entrepreneurial spirit led him owning Mac's Grocery in the Amity Community and for several decades, Harold was the go-to expert in pool maintenance and service. His entrepreneurial spirit shone through as he owned and operated Schroeder's Pool Service, earning the trust and gratitude of countless pool owners. Until his retirement, he was employed by the Lincoln County Public Works. Harold's life was enriched by his love for the outdoors. He was an avid hunter, a collector of firearms, and spent many days and evenings boating on the lake with his wife. He had a deep appreciation for life's simple pleasures. Harold's passion for the Georgia Bulldogs was unmatched. During college football season, he was a fixture in his chair in his den, watching the games with intense focus. His family knew that during those sacred moments, he was not to be interrupted and nothing short of the house being on fire could pry him away from cheering on his beloved team. Kind and handy, Harold's presence was a source of comfort and reliability. He was the man to know if you owned a pool and could fix any problem with it, a trait that endeared him to all. His kind-hearted nature and skillful touch will be deeply missed by those who were fortunate enough to know him. Harold leaves behind a loving family who will cherish his memory: his wife, Carol Tingle Schroeder; his son, Brad Schroeder of Bluffton, SC; his daughter, Ashley Schroeder of Marietta; and his granddaughters, Annabelle Schroeder and Emmalyn Schroeder.  He was predeceased by his sister, Susan Rule, as well as his parents.

As we bid farewell to Harold Schroeder, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of love, hard work, and dedication. His memory will be held in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of crossing paths with this remarkable man. Harold's journey on earth has ended, but his story will be told for years to come, inspiring all who remember him to live life with the same kindness, generosity, and unwavering spirit he exhibited every day.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to St. Paul Church or Goshen Baptist Church.

Beggs Funeral Home, Lincolnton is honored to serve the family of Mr. Harold Schroeder.
