Gloria Maxine Bramble

Mrs. Gloria Maxine Bramble of Savannah Lakes Village, McCormick passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2026, in Greenwood, South Carolina at the age of 82. Gloria was born on June 18, 1944, in Washington, D.C., and was the second youngest of eight children born to Basil and Mary Dixon Pitzen, both of whom preceded her in death.

Gloria grew up in Prince George’s County, Maryland where she graduated from Suitland High School in 1962 and went on to earn her Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Maryland in 1966. She later attained her master’s degree while working as a school teacher, demonstrating both her dedication to education and her lifelong commitment to learning. For most of her career, she was employed by Calvert County Schools as a teacher where she touched the lives of many students with her patience, encouragement, and steady presence.

On December 21, 1968, Gloria married the love of her life, Bill Bramble. Their marriage was a lasting partnership marked by devotion, companionship, and shared adventures.

Gloria and Bill moved from Huntingtown, Maryland to Savannah Lakes Village almost 22 years ago, where she embraced her new community and made many dear friends. She was an active member of The Lutheran Church By The Lake, where her faith remained an important part of her life. She loved her family, her friends, and her church, and she found purpose and peace in the relationships she nurtured over the years.

Gloria enjoyed a rich and active life filled with interests that brought her happiness. She loved kayaking on the lake, quilting, card making, and walking the village roads. She had a deep love of travel and was fortunate to visit Europe and Asia, though her favorite destinations were Glacier National Park and the Canadian Rockies. She delighted in the beauty of the world around her and carried those memories with her always. In later years, she and Bill enjoyed cooking date nights with Blue Apron, and what had once been a challenge became a shared pleasure. Gloria developed a real talent for cooking and found joy in creating meals together. Those who knew Gloria will remember her as a woman of warmth, intelligence, and quiet strength. She was deeply devoted to the people she loved and brought comfort simply by being present.

Gloria affectionately known as “Mom and Nana” leaves behind a lifetime of cherished memories and her family which includes her husband, Bill; son, Brian Bramble and his wife Kelly; and granddaughter, Elizabeth Bramble; and sisters, Sylvia, June and Darlene. She was preceded in death by her siblings Barney, Aileen, Evelyn, and Basil.

A memorial service will be held at The Lutheran Church by The Lake, 100 Twelve Oaks Drive, McCormick on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at 1 o'clock p.m. The church will be hosting a visitation and shared remembrance before the service beginning at 12 p.m. in The Bridge.

Floral contributions may be delivered to the church on the day before the funeral. Memorial contributions may be made to her favorite charities, which are Matthew 25 Ministries and Mercy Ships.
