MR. GERALD "MAX" CHRISTNER of Stagecoach Rd., Thomson, GA entered into rest November 29, 2007 at University Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Barbara Christner. Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM, Monday, December 3, 2007 from the Beggs Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bobby Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens. Serving as pallbearers will be Bud Overholser, Richard Overholser, Robert Hudson, Wayne Bennett, George Atnip and Vernon Baldwin. Mr. Christner was born in Columbus, Mississippi the son of the late Raymond Russell Christner and the late Clara Catherine Rody Christner . Qualifying as Expert Riflemanm ,he served in the U.S. Marine Corps, where he was a part of the Marine Corps Vietnam Expeditionary forces. Mr. Christner completed his enlistment aboard the U.S.S. Mt. McKinley in the communications unit during the Vietnam Era. Mr. Christner retired from Carole Fabrics as assistant Plant Managerand had served as plant manager for several other home fashions manufacturers in Westfield, Indiana; Mahanoy City, Pennsylvania; Augusta, Georgia; and Chester, South Carolina. Survivors include his wife Barbara Christner- Thomson, GA Sister: Soni Williams- Athens, OH 3 Nieces 1 Nephew Mr. Christner was preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis Moore.
