George Robert Smith

Mr. George R. Smith, 74, entered into rest on Sunday, April 16, 2017 at University Hospital, Augusta. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Resthaven Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the graveside beginning at 10 a.m. until the hour of the funeral.

Mr. Smith, son of the late Dr. Clyde L. and Mildred Bennett Smith, was a lifelong resident of Wilkes County. He had retired from International Paper as an equipment operator. Also, he was a member of Tabor Baptist Church and the Wilkes County Cattleman's Association.

Survivors include his wife, Doris H. Smith; Son, Robert Smith and wife, Carissa of Washington; Daughter, Claudia S. Whipple, and husband, Rob of Newnan; Sister, Celeste Smith, Albany; Grandchildren, Cohen Smith, Juliet Smith, Liam Whipple, and Amelia Whipple.
