SFC George Leroy Moore, US Army Retired passed away peacefully at his home in Lincolnton, Ga. on 8 November 2022. He was surrounded by his wife and children.
Funeral services with Military Honors will be held at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery located in Milledgeville GA on 21 November at 1300.
George, son of the late George Moore and Bessie Wise was born on August 21, 1942 in Kansas City, KS. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1961, and earned an Associate Degree from the University of Phoenix. He retired as a Sergeant First Class. His military decorations include: the Army Commendation Medal (1-OLC), Good Conduct Medal (6th AWD), National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal (3BS), Korean Defense Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon (4th AWD), Army Service Ribbon, Army Overseas Service Ribbon (4th AWD) and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. George deployed in 1969-70 to Vietnam with the 1st Signal Brigade 143 Signal Battalion. During his deployment, his unit received both the Vietnam Gallantry Cross Armed Forces and the Meritorious unit awards. "Til VALHALLA"
Survived by his loving wife Bonnie Moore of 61yrs, three children, son, George (Terri) Moore, daughter Juanita (Mark) Farmer, and son, LTC (RET) Bucky (Tami) Moore, 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Jeannie (Mike) Hills and Bonnie Anderson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Clifford Moore and grandchild Joshua Tanner.
