George Foster Grimaud, Jr., 81, of Newtown Road entered into rest on December 2, 2013 at Wills Memorial Hospital, Washington, GA.
He was the son of the late George F. Grimaud, Sr. and Fannie Mae Wortham, was a dairyman and had lived in Wilkes County since 1962. He served as Chairman of the Wilkes County Board of Commissioners for sixteen years. Additionally, Mr. Grimaud was a Mason and member of the Washington Lodge, a former State Director for Georgia Farm Bureau, and a former president of the Wilkes County Farm Bureau. He had also previously served as a coach for church-league softball for a number of years.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Jean S. Grimaud; two sons: George F. (Pete) Grimaud, III and wife, Louise and Benjamin (Benji) Grimaud and wife, Lisa; two brothers: David Grimaud of Appling and Andrew Grimaud of Washington; four sisters: Ann Hogan, Nellie Ruth Olson, and Nancy Thomas all of Grovetown, and Yvonne Knox of Appling; a sister-in-law, Karla Grimaud of Appling; along with five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 5th at 2:00pm in the Clarks Station Baptist Church with Rev. Clayton Sanders and Rev. Albert Huyck officiating. Interment will follow in the churchyard cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday at the church from 12:30pm until the hour of service.
