George "Pete" F. Grimaud, Iii

George "Pete" Foster Grimaud, III, known affectionately as Pete to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2024 at MCG Wellstar in Augusta, Georgia. Born on February 9, 1958, Pete's life was a testament to the values of hard work, dedication, and the simple joys that come from living on a farm. Pete is survived by his wife, Louise Hardy Grimaud, sons, George F. Grimaud, IV and his wife Genna of Washington, Joshua B. Grimaud of Tignall,; daughter, Andrea G. Burgess and her husband, Jeremy of Lincolnton; mother, Martha Jean Smalley Grimaud, and brother, Benjamin G. Grimaud of Washington. Pete was a cherished grandfather to Hannah Strother, Ben Strother, Kaylee Grimaud, Rebekah Grimaud, Reagan Grimaud, Kaitlyn Bentley, Cole Bentley, and J.M. Burgess. His father, George F. Grimaud, Jr., preceded him in death. Pete's entire life was woven into the fabric of Wilkes County, where he grew up on his father's dairy farm. From a tender age, he worked alongside his family, learning the values of hard work and ingenuity. This upbringing, amidst farm equipment and the daily rigors of farm life, laid the foundation for his successful career in maintenance at Berry Plastics. Pete's hands were rarely still, as he was always found tending to his beloved beef cattle farm, cutting and baling hay, mending fences, and uprooting thistles from his pastures. A man with a passion for mechanics, Pete had a particular fondness for International Harvester tractors and in years past, he was competitive with them at local tractor pulls. His love for animals was evident in his years spent raising Beagles and enjoying rabbit hunting, a pastime that brought him much joy. He also found companionship in his dachshund, "RePete," who was a loyal friend until its recent passing. Pete's life was not all work; he delighted in target practicing with his grandchildren and alongside his wife Louise, helped plant flowers for the older ladies in their community. He was a longtime member of Clark's Station Baptist Church. His legacy is one of a handy man, a man who could fix anything that was broken and often did so with a smile. His was a life that exemplified the best of what it means to be a devoted family man, a caring neighbor, and hardworking whether on his job or tending to his cattle farm. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at 10 a.m. at Washington Wilkes Memorial Gardens with Rev.
