George Edward Brown, Sr.

Hancock County

George E. Brown, Sr., 83, Mitchell, Georgia, entered into eternal rest on October 13, 2024.

He was born in Hancock County, grew up in Sparta, Georgia and graduated from Sparta High School and the University of Georgia.  He lived all of his life in Hancock County.  He was Baptist by faith and worked hard his entire life raising beef cattle.  He enjoyed hunting with his grandboys and loved spending time with his family and friends.

George is preceded in death by his parents, Roger and Martha Brown; his brothers, William Roger Brown, Jerry Brown and Bobby Brown and his sister, Mildred Brown Burgamy.  His survivors include, his daughter, Caroline Sowell (Mike), son, George E. "Chip" Brown, Jr. (Leigh); his five grandchildren, Blake Sowell (Taylor), Bryce Sowell, Austin Brown (Alex), Lane Brown and Bethany Teal; two great grandchildren, Gracelynn Brown and Parker Sowell; his sisters, Jean Coleman (Gene), Sandra Shelton (Jimmy), Judy Womack and Karen May (Mickey); numerous nieces and nephews, as well as, other extended family members.

The family wants to thank his wonderful caregivers Linda Thomas, Terry Coleman, Mary Walker, Vanessa Zellars and Maudell Griner.

His graveside service will be held on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Culverton Cemetery, 310 Roy Smith Road, Sparta, Georgia 31087, with Rev.
