Biography

Gene Cooper EZ-GO Augusta, Ga. - Mr. Gene Cooper,78 entered into rest June 9, 2010 at Trinity Hospital of Augusta. He was the beloved husband of Grace Elizabeth Cooper for 42 years. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, June 12, 2010 at the Beggs Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Reese officiating. Interment will follow at Westview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Robbie Holton, Michael Cooper, Billy Joe Johnson, Tim Howard, Chris Marsh and Edward Barock. Mr. Cooper, son of the late Willie Joe Cooper and the late Doris Dye Cooper, was born in Warren County but had lived in Augusta, Georgia most of his life. He was retired from research and development with EZ-GO of Augusta with 32 years of service. Mr. Cooper was also a member of Mill Creek Baptist Church. In addition to his wife, Grace Elizabeth Cooper survivors include: son, Steve Cooper and wife Brenda, Camak, GA; daughters, Deborah Campbell, N. Augusta,SC, Sue Ellen Douglas and husband Ronnie, Jekyl Island,SC; step-children, Jimmy Marsh, Eatonton, GA, Sheila Johnson, Martinez, Barry Marsh, Grovetown; sisters, Sara Reid, Thomson, Dovie Howard, Thomson, Sallie Johnson, Warrenton; eighteen grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Mr. Cooper was preceded in death by two sons, Michael Eugene Cooper and Willie Raymond"Buddy" Cooper and a grandson, Johnny Cooper. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the National Kidney foundation. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 pm Friday at the funeral home.
