Thomson, GA- Pastor Gemell D. Johnson, 74, of Augusta Hwy entered into rest October 14, 2013.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 17, 2013 at Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Ferrell and Rev. William Sink officiating. Interment will follow in the Dearing Cemetery.

Pastor Johnson was a lifelong resident of McDuffie County, GA and was the son of the late Olin E. Johnson and the late Annie Mae Rabun Johnson. On August 15, 1965, Pastor Johnson started Bethel Baptist Church in his home and served as minister of Bethel Baptist Church for many years at its current location. He worked part time at Thompson Tanker and Ray's Corner and he retired from Georgia Iron Works after many years of service.

Survivors include his wife, Mae Davis Johnson; daughter, Rebekah Ann Johnson of Dearing;  sons, Wayne Johnson (Pam) of Dearing, Tony Johnson (Debbie) of Thomson and Paul Johnson of Winder; sisters, Ira Dell Brinkley and Mary Ann Parrish both of Thomson; step-brother, Joe Easler (Charlotte) of Grovetown; 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara Street Johnson and a son, Ricky Johnson.

The family will receive friends from  6 until 8 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.
