Garry Simons

Norwood, GA – Mr. Garry Kent Simons, 78, entered into rest February 11, 2020.

Mr. Simons was born in Gibson, GA, the son of the late Horace Simons and the late Ozilla Kent Simons, grew up in Jefferson County where he graduated from High School, then moved to Augusta, and in 1997 moved to Norwood.  Mr. Simons operated service stations for many years with his father, worked for U-Haul for 25 years, and later worked for AutoZone and Advance Auto Parts.  He was a member of Macedonia United Methodist Church.  Mr. Simons enjoyed farming, the outdoors, horseback riding, and loved his cats and dogs.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 56 years, Sue Duckworth Simons; daughter, Lisa Gill; brother, Kendall Simons of Augusta, GA, and sister, Kay Wood of LaGrange, GA.

A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, February 14, 2020 in the Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens with Pastor Kevin Jones officiating.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:15 a.m. Friday, at the funeral home prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or Macedonia United Methodist Church, 7257 Hwy 80N, Thomson, GA 30824.
