Gaines Driver
Mr. Gaines William Driver, 87, beloved husband of 60 years to Frances Cox Driver, entered into rest March 1, 2012, at his residence.
Born and raised in Elbert County, Georgia, Mr. Driver had lived in Thomson for over 50 years. He was a veteran of World War II where he served as a member of the 82nd Airborne Division. Mr. Driver retired from Darrell Johnson Motors after 30 years of service in the paint and body department. Mr. Driver was a loving husband, kind father, adored grandfather and great grandfather. His family will miss his humor, and forever be grateful for the time spent with him. Survivors include his wife, Frances; daughters, Gainette Haywood of Warrenton; Janice (John) Alley of Martinez; and Susan Driver of Thomson; grandchildren Natalie (Preston) Scoggins of Augusta, Erik (Jennie) Phillips of Evans, Shannon (Trey) Kernaghan of Walterboro, SC, and Jordan (Rachel Harris) Haywood of Charlotte, NC; six great grand children, and sister, Ozzie Driver Seymour of Elberton. He was preceded in death by daughter Renae Bowman and grandson Jonathan Alley.
Graveside services with military honors will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, March 4, 2012 from the Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens with Rev. Randy Monk officiating.
