Frank Rodgers Clayton, Jr. of Savannah Lakes Village went to be with lord on March 15, 2014 surrounded by his family at the Hospice House of the Piedmont, Greenwood, SC.

Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, March 19 th at 11 AM at The Lutheran Church by the Lake with the Rev. Jim Kinsler officiating, followed by the Committal Service at the Columbarium. A fellowship reception will follow in the church social hall.

Born in Oklahoma City on December 8, 1933, he graduated from Will Rogers High School in 1951. After graduation at the age of 17, he enlisted in the US Navy and served our country overseas in the Korean War. He went on to attend the University of Oklahoma (Go Sooners!) and graduated in 1958 with a degree in electrical engineering.

During his college years, he met and married the love of his life, Verna Lewis. They just celebrated their 58 th anniversary in February.

Frank's many accomplishments during his lifetime include:

· President of the Board of Education in Illinois (Districts 96 & 125)

· Vernon Township Illinois Highway Commissioner

· Commander of Chain of Lakes Power Squadron in Illinois

· Awarded the Order of the Silver Crescent by the Governor of SC for his community service to SC

· Recognized by McCormick County Council of Government for his achievements and selfless acts to help make McCormick County a better to place to live

· Founder and First Commander of Thurmond Lake Power Squadron

· Rear Commander of the United States Power Squadron

· Chairman of the Board of the of the McCormick Children's Home

· Vice President of the McCormick County GOP

· Commissioner of McCormick County Soil and Water Commission

· Founder and Chairman of Savannah Valley Trails, Inc.

Frank is survived by his wife Verna Clayton; children Valerie (John) Harp of New Castle, IN, and Barry (Ginger) Clayton of Jupiter, FL; grandchildren, Jason (Beth) Euneman , Kara (Cory) Fairer, Kristi (Adam) Devries, Alexandra Clayton and Matthew Clayton; and 8 great grandchildren, Julien, Mia, Dashawn, Fiore, Jayden, Travis, Cory and Caleb.
