Mr. Floyd Clemson Bessinger, 86 of Clay Hill Rd. , Lincolnton entered into rest on January12, 2023, at his residence.
Mr. Bessinger, son of the late Jerome L. and Girlie Hair Bessinger was born in Bamberg, S.C. on February 23, 1936. He had a knack for repairing anything and learned auto mechanics at an early age. During his years in stock car racing that include racing with Richard Petty, he gained a wealth of knowledge that he used during his career as an automobile shop owner and mechanic. For the past 17 years, he operated a produce stand in Thomson which was work but also a hobby very dear to his heart. In his leisure, he enjoyed crappie fishing from his boat, hunting and traveling all over the continental U.S.
He will be greatly missed by his wife Brenda whom he loved and adored; sons, Robert Bessinger, Jeffery Bessinger and wife Tiffany, Freddie Jones and wife Dana and Frankie Jones; daughter, Deborah Pinion and husband Billy; sisters, Barbara A. Stewart and Jackie Lee Harter.; eight grandchildren and four great- grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Alice F. McKuhen, Dorothy G. Reed, Robert Bessinger and Rhett Bessinger.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 16, 2023 at 2 o'clock pm at Martin's Crossroads Congregational Holiness Church with interment following in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 6 pm until 8 pm at the funeral home.
