Faye Bodie Spratlin Freeland

Plum Branch, SC.- Mrs. Faye Bodie Spratlin Freeland, 79, of Fishing Village Rd., entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, February 23rd at Savannah Heights Living Center, McCormick, SC. She was born in McCormick County to the late William & Elizabeth Gilmer Bodie and lived most of her life in Lincolnton, GA, having resided in Plum Branch for the past 8 years. Mrs. Freeland was a homemaker and in 1970 began a career with the U. S. Postal Service. She was a member of St. Paul UMC in Plum Branch and was a former member of Lincolnton Baptist Church where she served as teacher of the Adult Ladies Sunday School Class. She was an avid Bridge player and a member of both the Lincolnton Bridge Club and the Savannah Lakes Village Bridge Club. Additionally, she enjoyed playing tennis. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Manning C. Freeland, sons, John W. "Johnny" Spratlin, III and wife, Laura, Glenn Russell Spratlin and wife, Angie, all of Lincolnton, and a daughter, Jill S. Kauffman and husband, Mason of Memphis, TN. Step-children, Carolyn Richardson and husband Joseph, Rock Hill, Francis M. Freeland and wife, Sheela, Greenville, Connie Rimmer, Simpsonville and Hugh Marion Freeland, and wife Allison of Westport, CT. Sisters: Frances B. Gibson, and husband Bill, Helen B. Ernest and husband, Royce, all of Winston-Salem, NC. Seven grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was predeceased by her first husband, John W. Spratlin, Jr. and her brother, William "Billy" Bodie. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 26th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Plum Branch with Rev. Philip Bostrom officiating. Interment will follow the service at Lincolnton City Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday evening, February 25th, between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Friends may also call either at the residence on Fishing Village Rd in Plum Branch or at the home of John W. Spratlin III on Lillian Sims Dr. in Lincolnton.
