Evelyn Ferguson Smalley

Mrs. Evelyn Ferguson Smalley, 80 of Thomson Highway, died Thursday. January 21, 2010 at Wills Memorial Hospital in Washington, Georgia. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 23, 2010 at 3 p.m. from St. Paul United Methodist Church with Rev. Lori Blocker officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Kenny Powell, Michael Smalley, Michael Ferguson, Lonnie Edmunds, Ralph Gnann, and Henry Justice, Kyle Reese and Bobby Blount will serve as pallbearers. Mrs. Smalley, daughter of the late Walter Lee and Mary Etta Hammond Ferguson, was a lifelong resident of Lincoln County. She was a retired seamstress and member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. Survivors include four children: Robert Smalley, and wife, Cara, Augusta, Ga., Cynthia Chambers, and husband, Lamar, Union, KY, Charlie Smalley, and wife, Angie, and Beth Beggs, and husband, Bruce all of Lincolnton. Additional surveyors include a sister, Margaret Edmunds McDowell, Lincolnton and brothers, Walter Lee Ferguson, Jr., Marietta, GA adn Hugh Allen Ferguson, Lincolnton, Georgia. Grandchildren include Jennifer Yankowsky, Jill Cosgrove, Brooke Smith, Laura Chambers, Benjamin Beggs, Bridgette Hooks and Bethany Beggs and great-grandchildren: Morgan and Andrew Yankowsky, Mackenzie, Levi, Kelsey and Brayden Smith, and Madison Cosgrove Ms. Smalley was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Alexander Smalley, and brothers, Hammond Ferguson, Alex Ferguson, Sr., and Jack Ferguson. The family is at the residence of Bruce and Beth Beggs, 41 Kelly St. Lincolnton Visitation will held Saturday from 1 p.m. until the hour of the service at St. Paul United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.
