Emory Carlton May Emory Carlton May passed away on May 8, 2012 at his home in Falls Church, Virginia after a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 56 years Elizabeth "Betty" May, brother, Leon, and sisters, Inez Rabun and Miriam Usry, five children: Richard of York, SC, Linda and husband, Paul Jones of Clifton, VA, Joyce and husband, K.C. Haar of Fairfax Station, VA, David and wife, Lori of Dogue, VA, and Brian of Purcellville, VA., his grandchildren: Katherine and Gary Harding and Lauren and Emma Jones will all miss him greatly. Mr. May was preceded in death by brothers, Robert Truman Jr., George, Willard, Alan, James, Roy and Emile and sisters, Virginia Nobles, Geraldine Hall, Mary May, and Robbie Crosby Brooks Emory was a giving man who was loved by all. He was the 11th of 15 children born to Robert and Emma May. Mr. May grew up on the family cotton and dairy farm on Quail Farm Road in Thomson, GA. He graduated from Thomson High School in 1949. After 4 years in the Navy he moved to New York where he met his wife, Betty and started raising a family. They moved to Northern Virginia in 1967. He was eager to return every possible year to Thomson, Georgia, a very special place in his heart, for the May/Heath family reunion. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, May 14, 2012 at the Beggs Funeral Home Chapel in Thomson with Rev. Jim Martin officiating. Interment will follow in the May Family Cemetery with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to your local Hospice. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Beggs Funeral Home, Thomson, Georgia is in charge of arrangements.
