Elizabeth "Betty " Johnson
Mesena, GA- Mrs. Elizabeth "Betty" Reese Johnson, 95, entered into rest September 17, 2014. Mrs. Johnson was born December 9, 1918 in Mayfield, Georgia to the late Thomas Franklin Reese and the late Alberta Louise Clark Reese. She graduated Warrenton High School and attended Berry College in Rome, Georgia. She was formerly married to the late Henry Johnson and she lived in McDuffie County most of her life. Mrs. Johnson was an excellent homemaker and enjoyed gardening, farming, and her flowers. She was a member of the Wrightsboro Club. Mrs. Johnson was a faithful and devoted member of the Mesena United Methodist Church where she had served as Sunday School Teacher, Willing Workers Leader, Bible School Teacher and pianist for many years.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister, Kathleen L. Farr and brother, J. Culver Reese. Survivors include her son, Henry F. Johnson of Thomson; daughters, Judith S. Johnson of Mesena, GA and Anne J. Arrington (Neil) of Asheboro, NC; grandchildren, Cheryl J. Price (Olin), Debra K. Johnson, Amy A. Denton (Brad), Matthew N. Arrington (Anna) and great grandchildren, Kevin Turner, Andrew Turner, Garett Price, Shey Price, Brooke Denton, Emma Denton, Avery Denton, Peyton Arrington and Tyler Arrington.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 20, 2014 in the chapel of Beggs Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Herring officiating. Interment will follow in the Camak Cemetery. The family will receive family and friends Friday, September 19th from 7:00 to 9:00 at the funeral home.
