ELIJAH THOMAS (RED) HODGE, JR. RYDER TRUCK LINES Mr. Elijah Thomas (Red) Hodge of Rousseau Creek Road, Thomson, GA entered into rest August 26, 2008 at his residence. He was the beloved husband of Mary B. Hodge. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, August 29, 2008 at the Beggs Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Roger Bennett officiating. Interment will follow at Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be: Lee Reese, John McNair, Dave Smith, Stoney Washington, Patrick Reece and Jared Brown. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Kelly Partridge and Zach Washington. Mr. Hodge was born February 1, 1925 in Empire, Georgia and was the son of the late Elijah Thomas Hodge and the late Emma Mae Hodge. He served in the U. S. Army during WW II and fought at the Battle of the Buldge. Mr. Hodge was retired from Ryder Truck Lines after 43 years of service. He was also a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Thomson. The family said that he enjoyed camping, golfing, fishing, and spending time with his wife and family. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Mary B. Hodge, 5 Children: 4 Boys: Dannie and wife Mary, Pat and wife Barbara, Tom and Nancy, Donnie and wife Kathy, 1 Girl: Vickie and husband Mac, 15 Grandchildren, 28 Great-Grandchildren, 2 Great-Great Grandchildren and one surviving sister, Ellen Peeples of Kingsland, Georgia. The family would like to express their grateful appreciation to Angela Vernoy, Mary Tankersley and Katie Ashley for all their love and tender care given to Mr. Hodge and Barbara Hanshew for her love, support and prayers.
