Thomson, GA-Mr. Edward Ronald Gerkitz, 71, of Cobbham Rd. entered into rest March 27, 2016.

Mr. Gerkitz was born in Chicago, IL and was the son of the late Edward J. Gerkitz and the late Theresa Stubenfol Gerkitz. He lived in McDuffie County since 1978 and was retired from the McDuffie County Road Department. Mr. Gerkitz was a member of Queen of Angels Catholic Church and a 4 ^th degree Knights of Columbus. In addition to his parents, Mr. Gerkitz was predeceased by brother, Raymond L. Gerkitz; sister, Theresa M. Pryztula and great grandchild, Harlow Schaefer.

Survivors include his daughter, Theresa M. Gerkitz; son, Edward A. Gerkitz; step sons, Kelly G. Schaefer, James "Jamie" Schaefer, Kevin Schaefer, Greg Schaefer; brother, Richard J. Gerkitz; 10 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

The funeral mass will be held at 2 o'clock p.m., Wednesday, March 30 ^th at Queen Angels Catholic Church with Father Stephen Lyness as Celebrant.

A rosary will be held at 6 o'clock p.m., Tuesday, March 29th at the funeral home. Visitation will follow from 6:30 until 8 p.m.
