Crawfordville, GA- Mrs. Edith Atchison Stewart, 89, of Nancy Gunn Circle entered into rest October 16, 2013.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 18, 2013 at Jennings Baptist Church with Rev. Clifford Drawdy officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state for one hour prior to the service. Pallbearers will be: Charles Atchison, Brian Stewart, Mark Stewart, Daniel Stewart, Chris Stowe and Bill Dawson. Honorary pallbearers will be great grandchildren.

Mrs. Stewart was a native of Taliaferro County, Georgia and was the daughter of the late Eddie B. Atchison and the late Sara L. Ledbetter. She was a homemaker and retired from teaching with Taliaferro County School System. She was a charter member of the A. H. Stephen's Chapter #328, United Daughters of the Confederacy (UDC), a member of the Kettle Creek Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR). She was a member of the Taliaferro County Historical Society. Mrs. Stewart was a lifelong active member and supporter of Jennings Baptist Church for almost 75 years.

Survivors include her son, Randy H. Stewart and wife, Jan of Dexter, MI, daughters, Sara Katherine S. Kealy Allen and husband, John of Crawfordville, GA, Janice Lucy and husband, Richard of Plymouth, MA, Susan Stowe and husband, Dwain of Warrenton, GA, Sandra Dawson and husband, Pete of Gibson, GA; grandchildren, Brian Stewart, Mark Stewart and wife, Denise, Daniel Stewart, Pamela Jo Kealy, Melissa Decker and husband, Jon, Stephanie Griffith, Chris Stowe (Kelly), Beth Dawson (Russell), Bill Dawson (Caitlin); and great grandchildren, Ashli Griffith, Blake Griffith, Mikey Stevenson, Cadley Stowe and Brennan Decker. Mrs. Stewart was preceded in death by her husband, Harold A. Stewart.

Additional survivors include: grandchildren by marriage, Dennis R. Allen, Ricky Maust, Rick Lucy and wife, Lisa, Scott Lucy, Jonathan Lucy; great grandchildren by marriage, William Lucy, Sam Lucy, Gracyn Lucy, Cheryl Allen, Brian Allen, Ashley Allen Johnson (Matthew); and great great grandchildren, Morgan Johnson and Blakey Johnson.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Jennings Baptist Cemetery c/o Katherine Allen, 723 Nancy Gunn Circle, Crawfordville, GA 30631.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.
