Earl William "Billy" Challender passed away peacefully on January 26, 2025, in Augusta, Georgia, at the age of 68. Born in the picturesque city of Naples, Italy, on December 24, 1956, to the late Earl W. Challender, Sr. and Virginia Ann Watson Challender, Billy's life was a tapestry of experiences woven through the many places his family called home, thanks to his father's military career. Billy's formative years were a rich collection of cultures and friendships from around the world, culminating in his graduation from Thomson High School in 1974. His compassionate nature led him to a career in nursing, and he became a dedicated Registered Nurse and Charge Nurse at Grady Hospital in Atlanta, where he served with distinction for 40 years. Billy's commitment to caring for others was evident in every aspect of his life, and his kindness touched the hearts of many. After retiring, Billy discovered a love for flipping houses, each project reflecting his attention to detail and his ability to see beauty in the forgotten. His weekends often found him antique shopping, where he pursued a particular fondness for collecting Hummel figurines, or "junking" in search of hidden treasures. Billy's creative spirit shone through in his love for cross-stitching. He had a love for pets whom he adored with all his heart. Survivors include his children, Geoffrey Lee Challender, David Ian Challender, Leonard David Challender, and Earl Samuel "Sammy" Challender; brothers, David Dwayne Challender and Ricky Duane Challender; sister, Pam C. Miller and two grandchildren
