Dorothy "Dot" Mccord

Dorothy Ann "Dot" Bridges McCord, 77, of Mesena Road, Thomson, Georgia entered into eternal rest with her Savior on May 19, 2024, in Augusta, Georgia. She was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother who cherished her family and her faith.

She was born August 22, 1946 in Washington, Georgia to the late Bowden Bridges and Zadie Mae Brown Bridges. She grew up in the Court Ground Community near Rayle, Georgia, and she attended Phillips Mill Baptist Church in Wilkes County.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Charles Bridges and sister Carolyn Bridges Burnam.  She is survived by her husband of 56 years, William Thomas "Bill" McCord; sons Chad (Anne) McCord of Sylvania and Chris (Amy) McCord of Thomson; and four grandchildren Billy McCord, Mary Anne McCord, Addison (Emma) McCord, and Hayden McCord.

Dot was a graduate of Washington Wilkes High School and spent her career as a bookkeeper at SunTrust Bank in Thomson, GA before retiring. She was a member of Mesena United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School and was a member of the United Methodist Women. Dot will be remembered for her love of cooking, traveling, camping with friends and family, gardening, and finding a good bargain. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 2:45 until 3:45 pm, Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at Beggs Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 4:00 pm, at Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens with Rev. Melissa Reynolds officiating.
