Thomson, GA- Mrs. Doris Hammond Wood entered into rest May 14, 2014.
Mrs. Wood was born in Oglethorpe County, Georgia on July 19, 1926. She moved with her parents to Thomson when she was seven years old. Mrs. Wood had one sister, Helen Hammond Whitaker which preceded her in death.
She was a member of Sweetwater Baptist Church, Thomson. Mrs. Wood was a talented decorator, homemaker, cook, gardener, and quilter, but her greatest accomplishment in life was the joy she brought to others. She died after a long illness and will be greatly missed by those who cherished her.
Survivors include her beloved husband of 67 years, Kelly Wood, of Thomson, her daughter, Kay Faircloth of Dublin, Georgia, her son, James E. Wood of San Diego, California, and one grandson, Brandon Faircloth of Dublin, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, May 17, 2014 at the Beggs Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Seaman officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.
