Donald Grantham Retired U. S. Navy Dearing, Ga. - Mr. Donald Frisbee Grantham, 76 of Neals Mill Rd. entered into rest May 13, 2010 at his residence. He was the beloved husband of Charlene Todd Grantham. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, May 15, 2010 at the Beggs Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Donald Grantham, Brother Lyle Grantham, Brother Tod Grantham and Elder Dwayne Hooven officiating. Interment will follow at Bellevue Memorial Gardens with full military honors. Mr. Grantham was a native of Atlanta, Georgia but lived in Dearing, Georgia for many years. He was the son of the late Jackson Lee Grantham, Sr. and the late Marie Knighton Grantham. Mr. Grantham served as a combat photo journalist in the U. S. Marines during the Korean Conflict and in the U. S. Navy during the Cuban Crisis and during Vietnam. He received the Navy Achievement Medal for superior performance during the Vietnam War. He retired from the U. S. Armed Forces with over 23 years of service. Mr. Grantham's service to his country and passion of journalism inspired him to write several books including, A Source of Wilderness Survival. He was also a Primitive Baptist by faith. Survivors include his wife Charlene Grantham of Dearing; sons, R. Tod Grantham and wife Prim of Anapolis, Maryland, Donald Lee Grantham, of Broomfield, Colorado, R. Lyle Grantham of Hartford, Kentucky; brother, Jackson Lee Grantham, Jr. of Walnut Creek, California; sisters, Patsy Lintz of Gainesville, GA, Jean Allgary of Adairsville, GA; grandchildren, Heather Grantham, Daniel Grantham, Parissa Grantham and Ryan Grantham. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior's Project, 7020 AC Skinner Pkwy. Suite 100, Jacksonville, FL 32256.
