A memorial service celebrating his life will be held Saturday, April 30, 2011 at Anthony's Chapel with Rev. Jim Leonard officiating and Eddie Turner assisting. The family will receive friends after the service in the fellowship hall.
Mr. Fletcher was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and received a Silver Star for gallantry in action at Trier, Germany.
He also received a Silver Star for exceptional performance of duty in the European Theatre.
Papa Don will be greatly missed by his family , many friends and all whose lives he touched during the 88 years that God granted him on this earth. He welcomed many with open arms into Noah's Ark, Place of Rest.
He served on the Board of Directors at the Augusta Rescue Mission and was an advisor for the Woman's Aglow and member of Full Gospel. He spent his last 30 years serving the Lord and touching many lives.
Survivors include two sons: Ed Fletcher , and wife , Paula
George Fletcher, and wife, Carolyn all of Lincolnton
Brother: Clifford Fletcher, Michigan
3 Grandchildren:
Shannon F. Jiles and husband, Keith; George C. Fletcher II; Kelly F. Phillips, and husband, Tracy
4 Great- grandchildren: Lana Jiles, Alexis Fletcher, Brittany Phillips, and Gracie Phillips
Mr. Fletcher was preceded in death by his wife of sixty two years, Reba Fletcher and grandson, Eddie Fletcher.
