Wanda Diane Tingle Hawkins, a retired social worker, died suddenly April 16 at her home in Thomson.
She was 62.
The beloved wife of Dennis Hawkins, Diane was was born in Sandersville, Ga., daughter of Earl and Christine Warren Tingle.
She grew up in the Augusta area, was graduated from Englewood High School in Jacksonville, Fla., and attended The Sanctuary Church in Evans. She worked for Serenity Behavioral Health Systems and the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities, retiring after more than 20 years of service.
Diane will be remembered for her effervescent personality and zest for life. She had many passions that included painting, gardening, antiquing and several crafts such as sewing.
Diane was looking forward to learning to play the guitar, joining a writers group to eventually author a book, among other pursuits in retirement. Most of all, she dearly loved her family and her home was the focal point of holiday and family gatherings. Her grandchildren affectionately called her Darlin'.
In addition to her husband and her father, who lives in Grovetown, Diane is survived by daughters Dawn Hawkins Johnson and husband, Joseph of Winder, GA; Pamela Hawkins Smith and husband, Chad of Camp Lejuene, NC; son, Dr. Dustin Hawkins and wife, Jennifer of Evans,GA; brothers, Michael Tingle and Brian Tingle both of Grovetown, GA; grandchildren, Andrew Hawkins, Hope Hawkins, Abigail Johnson and Ian Smith.
She was preceded in death by her mother.
The family will receive friends following the memorial service, Monday at the residence of Dr. Dustin and Jennifer Hawkins,
300 Bellhaven Drive, Evans, GA.
