Derwin Ware Adkins, 84, of Warrenton, GA entered into rest Saturday, November 07, 2020 at University Hospital McDuffie.
Derwin was a native of Oglethorpe County, GA but grew up most of his life in Warren County. He was the son of the late Harvey Adkins and the late Pearl Martin Adkins. Mr. Adkins was a milk man for Coble for many years, delivering milk home to home. He then drove a truck for Gene Smith. Mr. Derwin was a resident of Young Harris for 22 years and attended Old Brasstown Baptist Church. He loved fishing, hunting and selling produce and firewood at his produce stand but especially loved spending time with his family.
Mr. Derwin was preceded in death by two brothers, Sheron Adkins and James Adkins; and four sisters, Inez Raley, Elma Edwards, Mildred Redfern and Nell Dunn.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Joyce Smith Adkins; three daughters, Joan Wood(John), Robin Wiggins(David) and Diane Adkins; five grandchildren, Megan Pileggi(Christopher), Adam Wiggins(Charlotte), Ashley Hoague(Travis), Lacy Moncus(Brian) and Logan Wood; five great grandchildren, Daniel Hoague, Emily Hoague, Kyler Moncus, Carver Moncus and Maverick Pileggi; and a sister Varnelle Marsh.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at the Jewell Baptist Church Cemetery, with Reverend Ralph Story officiating.
Per CDC requirements the family will be observing social distancing. Masks are required and appreciated. Due to the current national health concern, the family would appreciate all phone calls, cards, texts, and e-mails.
