Dean Cooper

Larry Dean Cooper of Lincolnton passed away peacefully on December 29, 2024, at the age of 73 in Augusta, Georgia.

Son of the late Joel Robert and Orena Talbert Cooper, he was born on August 26, 1951, in McCormick, South Carolina

Dean's early years in Lincolnton were shaped by the hum of engines and the art of car repair, thanks to his father's influence through the family's small engine and auto body repair shop. He carried this passion for automobiles throughout his life. After graduating from Lincolnton High School in 1969, Dean pursued higher education at West Georgia College, where he became a proud member of the F.A.R.M. Fraternity and graduated in 1972. His academic journey didn't stop there; he went on to attend John Marshall Law School.

Despite his legal education, Dean's heart remained with automobiles. He spent most of his career in the car industry, where he specialized in wholesaling vehicles to dealers across the Southeast.

Dean's zest for life was infectious. Always the life of the party, he was known for his fun-loving nature and his readiness to lend a helping hand. His friends often spoke of how Dean would give away his last dime to someone in need, a testament to his generous spirit. He lived for the moment, never worrying about what tomorrow might bring, and his philosophy of life was to enjoy every day to the fullest.

Even in his later years, Dean's youthful energy never waned. He was a handsome man who, in his heart and mind, never aged beyond 20. Described by those who knew him best as friendly, intelligent, and spirited, Dean was a man who brought laughter to any gathering.

Survivors include the mother of his children, Gail Colvin, daughters, Brittany Cooper, Casey Gowan and husband Tyler; brother, Bob Cooper and wife Linda; grandchildren, Braylen Ashmore, Brielee Gowan, Nicclanette Denton, Beau Gowan; nieces and nephews, Stacey Radford and Josh Cooper; great- nieces and nephews, Hudson Young, Sydney Radford and Joel Cooper.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his nephew, Trey Cooper.

A visitation and time of remembrance will be held on Wednesday, January  8, 2024 from 6pm until 8pm at Beggs Funeral Home, Lincolnton.
