Dawn Scruggs

Dawn "DawnMarie" Mazur Scruggs, age 54, passed away on Monday, September 28, 2026.

Born in Buffalo, New York, on November 18, 1971, Dawn was the daughter of the late James and Pamela Mazur. She spent much of her life in the Hilton Head-Bluffton area before settling in Washington, Georgia, with her beloved husband, James “Jamie” Scruggs.

Dawn was a proud and devoted mother and is survived by her children, Steven Scruggs, Robert Devone Lynch, Caleb Devone Scruggs, Mallory Mahaney, and Marissa Lynch; her sister, Andrea Hover; her nephew, Colbrin Hover; her grandchildren, Ashleigh, Kara, and Benjamin; and her mother-in-law, Judy Scruggs.

Family and friends brought Dawn immense pride and joy throughout her life. She will always be remembered as someone who loved deeply and gave generously of herself to others without hesitation. No matter where life took her, she carried with her a strong sense of family and compassion for those around her.

Dawn had a special love for animals and a passion for gardening. She found happiness in life's simple pleasures, especially the time spent with her family on their beloved “little” farm. Her fun-loving personality filled every room with warmth, laughter, and energy. She made friends easily and leaves behind countless cherished memories, words of wisdom, and examples of genuine kindness and care.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Faith Community Church, located at 1437 Leathersville Road, Lincolnton, Georgia.
