David B. Kitchens, Sr. Thomson, Georgia - Mr. David B. Kitchens, Sr., 79, of Boneville Road entered into rest August 28, 2012 at University Hospital McDuffie. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 31, 2012 at Second Baptist Church with Dr. Ron Drawdy and Rev. Barry McAvoy officiating. Interment will follow in Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be: Dane Ball, Phillip Carter, Lindy Tudor, Sam Meadows, Preston Williams and Mike Huff. Honorary pallbearers will be: James Foster, Marty Chalker and Eddie Moore. Mr. Kitchens was born in Jefferson County, Georgia and lived most of his life in McDuffie County. He was the son of the late Van Buren Kitchens and the late Omie Davis Kitchens. Mr. Kitchens was a retired carpenter from Two State Construction. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, fishing and hunting. Mr. Kitchens was a Baptist. Survivors include his beloved wife of 61 years, Frances Vandiver Kitchens; son, David "Smokey" B. Kitchens, Jr. and wife, Kim; daughters, Ann K. Bowden, Kay K. Coleman and husband, Anthony; mother-in-law, Frances Vandiver all of Thomson; grandchildren, David B. Kitchens, III, Judy Hanson, Robert Daniel Kitchens, Lee Highfill, Jonathan Coleman, Rainne Austin, David Coleman and Katie Cook; 5 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends may call the residence or from 6 until 8 p.m., Thursday, August 30, 2012 at the funeral home. Beggs Funeral Home 799 Cobbham Rd., Thomson , Georgia is in charge of arrangements.
