Dearing, GA-Mr. David E. Smith, 61, of Iron Hill Rd. entered into rest December 15, 2014.
Mr. Smith was a lifelong resident of McDuffie County, GA. He was a retired carpenter from Gracewood State Hospital with 28 years of service. Mr. Smith was a member of Fort Creek Baptist Church. He was an avid outdoorsman, hunter and fisherman. Mr. Smith loved his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and will be missed by all.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Smith; mother, Thelma Brassell; son, Scott Smith (Irma); daughters, Amber Smith (Stan), Sandy Tharpe (Russell), Beverly Griswell, Jennifer Griswell; brothers, Charles E. Smith (Margaret), Terry C. Smith (Claudia); 15 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren and mother in law, Mary Denton. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his father, Carl Edward Smith and brother, Tony Smith and nephew, Blaine Smith.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock p.m., Friday, December 19, 2014 at Fort Creek Baptist Church with Dr. Phil Bray and Rev. Jim Martin officiating. Interment will follow in Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.
