David Merrill Cray, Sr.

Martinez, GA- Mr. David Merrill Cray, Sr., 79, entered into rest May 24, 2017 at his residence.

Mr. Cray was born in Burlington, Vermont to the late Leo Cray and the late Esther Smith Cray. He lived in Columbia County for most of his life, and was an active member of Philadelphia United Methodist Church. Mr. Cray served in the U.S. Air Force and was retired as a service manager at Bagby's Auto. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Zina Rose Cray.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Linda Banks Cray; son, David M. "Mel" Cray Jr. of Martinez; daughter, Jackie Rush (David) of Thomson; sister, Joan Whitsett of Florida; grandchildren, Drew Rush, Lindsay Rush, Shannon Cray, Taylor Cray, and Jenna Cray.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 27, 2017 at Philadelphia United Methodist Church in Harlem, GA with Rev. Paul Bradford officiating.  Interment will be held at the Bethany United Methodist Church Cemetery in Lincoln County.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.
